Emergency water restrictions are being imposed by Laois County Council in the Portlaoise area until further notice.
The measure comes into effect on Tuesday, September 10 and will affect different areas in Portlaoise, Ballyfin and its environs.
Water will be restricted between the hours of 9pm until 6am until further notice.
Laois County Council apologises for any inconvenience caused.
“Due to circumstances beyond our control Laois County Council are implementing emergency water conservation measures to maintain reservoir levels,” it said.
The council has yet to say why it has been forced restrict water. The Laois local authority also restricted supplies during the summer.
To conserve water please do not power hose buildings, wash cars or water the garden.
