For the late Elizabeth Hayden, Rathmore Road will be on Saturday, February 1 at 6.30pm in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Stradbally.
Stradbally Flower and Garden Club’s first meeting of the new year will be held on Wednesday, February 5 in St Joseph’s Hall at 8pm. Pamela Curtin (Millner) will attend and give a talk and demonstration on hats and fasinators. Come along on Wednesday 5 for an enjoyable night and be prepared for that special occasion this summer.
THE LATE MICHAEL MCEVOY
The death occurred on January 19 of Michael McEvoy, son of Catherine and JJ, Ballinteskin, Stradbally. Michael in his mid twenties, is survived by his parents, sister Frances, grandmother Frankie, and girlfriend Brid Ann and his extended family. His remains were reposing at his parent’s home until removal on Wednesday to the Sacred Heart Church, Stradbally, for 12 noon requiem mass following which interment took place in Oakvale Cemetery.

The Laois Branch of Birdwatch Ireland meet again on this Tuesday, January 28 when bats top the bill. Dr Tina Aughney of Bat Conservation Ireland will talk about the nine bats species in Ireland at the Portlaoise Parish Centre from 8pm. Entry free but contributions welcome. On Sunday, February 2 they meet at the Court Square, Stradbally at 8.30am to view the birdlife of Stradbally.
Meet current members and leaders and find out all about Laois Youth Theatre on Saturday, February 1, in the Dunamaise Arts Centre - 11am-1pm. Ages 12-18. Workshops run in Portlaoise, Stradbally and Portarlington through the school term October - December and February-June for just €60 per term.

MARKET HOUSE TRESTLE TABLE
The Market House Restoration Committee are looking for any old photographs or cine film of the Market House which show the Trestle Table or any information relating to it as it was before the table was taken down.
Any relevant material can be loaned to James Deegan 086 2428655, Paddy Nolan 086 8892306 or to any member of the committee and it will be returned to them when copies are made with the permission of the owner. Trusting that this appeal will be successful.
DRAMA WORKSHOPS FOR ADULTS
Informal and fun workshops for grown ups have started in St Mary’s Hall in Stradbally every Wednesday, from 7 – 8.30pm, €5/workshop. No experience required. Wear comfortable clothes. Come along and give it a go. Enquiries Siobhán Coffey 086 3300943.
A table quiz will be held in St Patrick’s Hall, Stradbally on Friday, January 31 commencing at 8.30pm. Lone contestants will be welcome and will be put in as part of a table of four. Contestants will be welcome and a great night’s entertainment assured as always.
