Confessions: Holy Thursday & Good Friday after 7.30pm ceremonies. Holy Saturday - 10.30am - 12 noon and 7.30pm - 8.30pm. Holy Thursday - Mass the Lord’s supper Parish Church: 4pm & 7.30pm; Scoil Bhride - 6.15pm; The Heath - 8pm; Ratheniska - 8pm.

Good Friday Commemoration of the Lord’s Passion: Parish Church - 4pm & 7.30pm; The Heath & Ratheniska 8pm. Stations of the Cross Outdoor Stations from 2pm at the top of O’Moore Plc and ending at the Parish Church. St Fintan’s Stations 3pm.

Parish Church Prayer around the Cross at 9pm. Church open until midnight.

Holy Saturday - Easter vigil Parish Church 9pm

Easter Sunday: Dawn Mass 6am outdoors in the Heath. Masses also at all Portlaoise Parish churches at usual times.

Church of Ireland: Palm Sunday 10.45am at St Peter’s Portlaoise only (no services at Rock or Ballyfin).

Parish Novena

The Novena to our Lady of Perpetual Help in SS Peter & Paul’s Church continues on Wednesday, April 9 when Finbarr & Elma Walsh- parents of the late Donal Walsh. Portlaoise Parish Youth group will be providing tea and scones after the novena on April 9 to raise money for the Camino Youth Pilgrimage.

Table Quiz

The Park Ratheniska GAA table quiz in aid of Motor Neurone takes place on Friday, April 11 in The Rock Inn. The club’s five year plan will also be launched on the night.

Strictly Fun Dancing

St Mary’s CBS Strictly Fun Dancing takes place on Friday April 11 in the Portlaoise Heritage Hotel on Friday, April 11 in aid of the Zambian Immersion Project. Doors open 7pm. Show starts 8pm. Tickets €20.

Election reform

Free information seminar event to help communities understand the new local government reform process. Laois is a pilot count for citizen participation measures in local government reform. Active Age

Singing rehearsals with Nuala Kelly for 10th Anniversary concert on April 23 open to each member. Come along each Wednesday 2-3pm sharp and ‘Air your vocals’! Usual meeting follows every Wednesday between 3-5 pm at the Parish Centre and will include a wide variety of activities and events. (The more you join in the fun the more you get out of it). Indoor Bowls every Monday at St Mary’s Hall 3-5 pm.

Late Kenneth CLEAR

Condolences to the family of the late Kenneth Clear of O’Moores Place, Portlaoise who died on April 1. Son of William and Christina and loving brother to Mandy, Agnes, Joseph, John, and Leanne he is deeply regretted by her loving family, especially his son Dylan and daughter, Rebecca. Reposed at the Chapel of Rest at Portlaoise Hospital with Requiem Mass in SS Peter and Paul’s Church followed by interment in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery.

Late Eileen POWDERS

Condolences to the family of the late Eileen Powders (née Dowling) of Green Mill Lane, Portlaoise who died on April 2. Reposed at the residence of her daughter Joan Foley at Borris Little, Portlaoise. Removal to SS Peter and Paul’s Church for 10am Requiem Mass. Internment afterwards in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Portlaoise. Wife of the late Séan she is deeply regretted by daughters Joan Foley and Deirdre McDonald, extended family, relatives and friends.
