Condolences to the late Annie Murphy (née Hickey) of Shanbeg, Rosenallis, who passed away peacefully on June 10 at Oak Dale Nursing Home, Portarlington. Beloved wife of the late Joe and deeply regretted by her loving family Bridie, Andy, Marion, Peter and Noel, extended family, relatives and many friends. Reposed in the nursing Home. Removal to St Brigid’s Church, Rosenallis for requiem mass. Funeral after to St Brigid’s Cemetery.

Festival of the Mountain

June 29 at 1.30pm starting with children’s fancy dress. We have many family favourite competitions including Queen of the Mountain, King of the Mountain, Bonny Baby U1, U2 & U3, Glamourous Grany, dog show, Wheel of Fortune. Entertainment provided by ‘Rock on Paddy’, bouncing castles, children’s athletic races, tug of war competition, art competition and much more family fun.

Rosenallis Kilcavan Athletics Club

The Rosenallis Kilcavan Athletic’s Club are hosting a 5KM run/walk on Friday June 27 at 7.30pm. Registration from 6.30pm, Rosenallis Community Centre. Entry fee €10/€5. Cash prizes. Complimentary refreshments afterwards in Rosenallis Community Centre. AAI approved.

Mountmellick Comhaltas

Well done to all our young musicians who took part in the Junior Feis in the ICA hall recently. Thank you to the musicians who played during the part of the evening when medals were presented to Mary T. Culleton, Agnes Conroy and Mary B. Culliton in honour of their work in promoting the Irish lanuage in the community. Be alert also for texts calling all the Grupaí Cheoil musicians to practice as they are all playing in the Leinster Fleadh in Moate next month. Also going to Moate are Niamh O’Connor, Maeve Áine Ní Dhúfaigh, Fiachra Ó C-Fionnghaill, Alanah Ní Chonaire, Derbhla Ní Ghiolla Phádraig, Deirbhile and Líadan Ní C-Fhionnghaill. Remember all those going to Brú Ború on July 1, we are meeting at the MDA at 6.30pm for the bus. Further information 085 713 8940.

Rounders

Training for rounders will start again soon most likely on Sunday mornings in the GAA field at 11.35am if that suits most people. If you would like to join in send name to 085 713 8940.

Laois Festival and Events Network

The group feel the main purpose of the network is to get to know other festival and event organisers, to help share ideas among festival and event organisers in Laois and to have a say in Laois tourism. The date of the next meeting has been set for Tuesday, June 17 at 7pm in Laois/Offaly ETB (Education and Training Board) buildings, Ridge Road, Portlaoise. Meeting will take place from 7pm to 8pm.
