The Slieve Bloom Association annual Bus Tour will be on Saturday, September 6 and includes a visit to Portumna Castle & Gardens, Athlone Castle, a Viking trip on the Shannon and a three course meal in the Hodson Bay Hotel. The bus will start from Portlaoise at 7:30am and pick people up in Mountmellick, Rosenallis, Clonaslee, Cadamstown and Kinnity as required. Booking is essential. Senior citizens

Rosenallis Senior Citizens Committee would sincerely like to thank all those who supported their recent Church Gate Collection. We raised €557.37 which was very much appreciated


On behalf of Mountmellick Comhaltas, well done to Fiachra and Muireann who too part in the All-Ireland Fleadh in Sligo recently. Congratulations to Fiachra on winning silver in the Comhrá competition.


As this is a busy time with Match Finals and Championship matches there will be no Rounders until further notice.

Vintage Run

The Tower Classic and Vintage Run is on Sunday September 7 starting at Ballyfin community hall at 2pm. In aid of Laois Hospice & Bone Marrow for Lukemia Trust Fund, St. James’s Hospital. All welcome to attend. For more information contact Denis 0879488015.

Heritage Tour

The Slieve Bloom Association will host their annual outing on Saturday August 3. This year’s outing is a heritage tour of the Shannon Region, including guided tours of Portumna Castle, Clonmacnoise, Athlone Castle, Luan Gallery and a Viking Ship Tour of the River Shannon. Bus departs Portlaoise at 7:30am, Rosenallis 8:00am, Clonaslee 8:15am.

Members and non members, young and old are invited to join.

The tour coincides with National Heritage Week which makes it an ideal opportunity to visit places you might not have been.
