First Confessions will take place in St. Canice’s Church, Borris-in-Ossory on this Tuesday March 24 at 8 p.m. after Mass and in Killasmeestia Church on Wednesday March 25 at 7.30 p.m.
The Annual General Meeting of Borris in Ossory ICA Guild will take place on Wednesday night April 1 at 8pm. Information Officer May Bowe will be in attendance. All members are requested to attend the AGM. New members are welcome. The competition will be the nicest arrangement of Spring flowers.
ST JOSEPH’S N.S.
Enrolment for the A.S.D. Special Class is now taking place for September 2015 for St. Joseph’s N.S. Borris in Ossory. Anyone interested in enrolling their child should call 0505 41331 or call in person to the school during school hours 9.20am to 3pm.
The next meeting of Borris in Ossory Development Association will take place after Mass at 8 p.m. in the FÁS Office on this Wednesday 25th March.
Daffodil Day takes place on this Friday March 27 and organisers in the Borris in Ossory area will be selling Daffodils door to door on Wednesday and Thursday. Daffodils will be on sale at Tony’s Foodstore, Esso Filling Station and Borris in Ossory Post Office on Friday. Please support this worthy cause where all monies raised go towards cancer services.
LOURDES INVALID FUND
Thanks to all who contributed to the recent Church gate collection in aid of the Lourdes Invalid Fund. The proceeds of the collection will help to send a parishioner to Lourdes with the Ossory Diocesan Pilgrimage in May. Thanks also to the volunteers who took up the collection.
At the last meeting of Borris-in-Ossory Social Services, sympathy was extended to the families of the late Paul Finan, Derrin, the late Kitty Foyle, Shanboe and the late Robert Phelan, Ballaghmore and a minutes silence was observed. The recent Senior Citizens Party was discussed and all agreed that it was a great success.
Reports were given on the laundry and meals on wheels services. It is hoped to have the annual Summer outing on Wednesday June 24, taking in Newgrange, Hill of Tara, Trim Castle and other places of interest, full itinerary and timetable to be finalised at the next meeting.
ST. MARY’S CATHEDRAL
The Diocese of Ossory has launched a fund raising draw in aid of the Restoration of St Mary’s Cathedral, Kilkenny. The Cathedral, which opened on 4th October 1857, was built and paid for by the people of the Diocese of Ossory during Famine times. It is more than just an historic building, it is a place of worship and prayer, the centrepiece of our diocese and something worthy of being protected as an inheritance for future generations.
A project of restoration and renovation is now about to take place and every parish in the Diocese is being asked to play its part in this fundraising draw. Anyone wishing to join the draw can do so by contacting Fr. Jackie, Sr. Regina or the parish office where a full list of local promoters is available. The First Diocesan Draw will take place on this Wednesday 25th March in the Chapter Room, beside St Mary’s Cathedral, Kilkenny and thereafter on the last Wednesday of each month. All are welcome to attend.

Childrens Easter Disco
The Parents Association are holding a disco for all national school children on Friday 27th March in the schools P.E Hall from 7 - 9pm. Admission is €3 and there will be spot prizes throughout the evening. The disco will be fully supervised and we would appreciate good support for this fundraiser.
Gaelscoil an tSlí Dala Autism class
Gaelscoil an tSlí Dála, Ballaghmore has received sanction from the Department of Education and Skills to set up an Early Intervention class to cater for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The commencement of this class is the start of the 2015/2016 academic school year. This class will meet the needs of pupils aged 3 – 5 years who have a diagnosis of ASD meeting DSM IV/V or ICD-10 diagnostic criteria. The class will have a maximum of six pupils and will be staffed by a teacher with two infant day Special Needs Assistants.
