Emo Tidy Towns will hold a meeting in the Gate Lodge on Thursday night at 8.30pm. This is the start of our busy season so please come along. New members and new ideas always welcome.
Coolbanagher church parish sale and coffee morning, Saturday May 5, 11am – 1pm. Everyone welcome. The church will also be open for anyone who would like to come and have a look round. The church was designed by James Gandon (who designed the Four Courts and Custom House in Dublin as well as Emo Court). Follow the brown tourist sign for the church from Emo village.
The Emo-Ballybrittas branch of Fine Gael held it’s AGM on Thursday, April 19 in the Community Hall in Rath, Ballybrittas. The well attended meeting was addressed by Ms Anne Goodwin of Laois Partnership Ltd., who outline the work being done in the the county by Laois Partnership, with special attention to local enterprises such as Limetree Airfield, Emo and Barrowline Cruises, Vicarstown. Also present were Cllrs Tom Mulhall and James Deegan both of whom spoke to the meeting about local issues such as traffic calming measures in Ballybrittas and about more national issues such as water charges, household charge and the beginnings of economic recovery for the country. Emo-Ballybrittas and Vicarstown branches of Fine Gael travelled to Dublin on Wednesday, April 25 to visit Leinster House at the invitation of Charles Flanagan T.D. The trip, organised by Cllr Tom Mulhall M.C.C, began with a tour of Glasnevin Cemetary, followed by a visit to the Dail and Seanad chambers. This was followed by an explanation of the workings of the Dail and its TDs by Deputy Flanagan.
