LATE ROSE KEIGHTLEY
The death occurred on November 17 of Rose Keightley, (nee Quigley), Hillview, Portlaoise and formerly from Cremorgan, Timahoe,(peacefully) at her son Tom’s residence in Naas, surrounded by her loving family, beloved wife of the late Tom and dearly loved mother to Breda, Tom, Timmy and Rose; deeply regretted by her loving family, brother Tom, sisters Sheila, Gertie, Louise and Alice, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Rest in peace. Her remains were reposing at the Regional Hospital, Portlaoise with removal to SS Peter and Paul’s Church, Portlaoise and following requiem mass her remains were interred in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Portlaoise.
The following are the results of the whist drive held in St Patrick’s Hall on Friday, November 16: top score John Graham, 1st lady Nellie Thompson, 2nd lady Teresa Grufferty, 1st gent Bea Hendy, 2nd gent Nora Fisher and Michael O’Brien, 1st half Brigid O’Brien, 2nd half Christine Browne, lowest score Sean Langton, hatching Kay Chase.
Raffle winners Nora Fisher, Kay Chase, Gerry Kealy and Cora Moore. Next whist drive will be the Christmas fare, turkeys, hampers, Christmas cake, ham, whiskey, etc. It will be held on Friday, December 21 commencing at 8.30pm and all are welcome.
STRADBALLY FLOWER AND GARDEN CLUB
Christmas demonstration will be held on Wednesday, December 5 in St Joseph’s Hall commencing at 8pm. Evonne Harte, from All Occasions, Portlaoise will give a demonstration and all arrangements will be raffled at the end of the night. Sit down supper will be served and admission is €8 and all are welcome.
The club’s annual Christmas dinner will be held in The Castle Arms Hotel, Durrow on Saturday, December 15. Bus leaving at 6.30pm. All places are limited so please give names as soon as possible to Vera Donohoe, Dorrie Moran or Francis Scully or any member of the committee. The club would like to thank all those who gave shoe boxes for their Christmas appeal fund. This is much appreciated and the boxes will go to the needy children of Eastern Europe and Africa.

LAOIS CARERS ASSOCIATION
The Laois Carers Association are holding a support group meeting on Friday, November 30 in St Joseph’s Hall, Stradbally between 11am and 1pm. Their will be a presentation from the assisting chief fire officer on fire safety for carers. For further details contact Alison Hackett on 086 7957086.
