Through many trials, training sessions, travelling, hard work and determination, in September 2012 Eoin was selected in the final 12 young men for the Men’s U-16 Irish National Basketball Team and they will travel and compete in Sarajevo, Bosnia in the European Championships in August 2013. They have already played and won against England, Wales, Scotland and Denmark. The twelve are made up of young men from Belfast, Monaghan, Dublin, Sligo, Cork and Eoin flies the flag proudly for Laois.
Eoin is a son of Brendan and Grainnne McCann and has one sister, Sarah.

He also plays Gaelic Football for Portarlington and has played at County level with Laois. He plays his club basketball team with the Kestrels Club in Portarlington.
