The Late Sean Ryan

The death has taken place John Thomas (Sean) Ryan, originally from Rathdowney, Co Laois, but latterly residing in Fareham, Hampshire.

Born on September 5, 1927, he sadly passed away on October 12, 2013 at the age of 86 years. Missed deeply by his dearly beloved wife Ursula, daughter Emer, sons Eoin and Martin, together with nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and all of his extended family. Enquiries to M. Congratulations to the 28 Beaver Scouts and 28 Cub Scouts and 13 Scout Leaders who were invested in to the 2nd Laois, Rathdowney Scout Group on Monday, November 4.


Annual auction on Sunday November 24 in St. Bernadette’s hall Errill. This is a very successful fundraiser for the club so all support greatly appreciated. There will be all sorts, from fuel for the winter to hurling gear for the summer. Spin the wheel has proven to big a huge success for young and old. Santa will be there. Come along for the bargains. The club will also be selling tickets in the area on the weekend of the 15/16 November. Great prizes. Draw at the auction.


Bingo is held every Tuesday Night at 8.30 in the Rathdowney Community Centre. Support greatly appreciated. Run by the Community Centre Group.

Turbo training classes are on every Wednesday in the Marion centre at 8pm sharp. The only criteria is that you must have your own turbo trainer, these can be purchased on Done Deal starting for as little as 75 euro upwards. Cost of training one euro per night.


There was no winner of this week’s Jackpot which was €10,300. The numbers drawn were 8, 10, 12, 20. Computer classes for men are on every Wednesday morning 11-1 in the old convent school. Art classes in the Men’s Shed on Tuesday nights from 7-9pm €2 per night. The Men’s Shed is open every Thursday morning from 10-12 in the old convent school, the new heating system is up and running. New members welcome.
