Late Madge Marcella McGovern

The death occurred on Wednesday last of Madeline McGovern Rushin Road Mountrath and formerly of Virginia County Cavan. Many people in Camross will remember Madeline when she and her late husband ran a very progressive business in Main Street Mountrath and later when they ran the Cedar Inn across the road from the Mart in Mountrath.

Mrs McGovern had reached a great age in her mid 90s and she passed away in the care of the staff at Birr Nursing Home. Having reposed at Burkes Funeral Home her remains were removed to St Edmunds Church Castletown on Friday evening and requiem mass was celebrated on Saturday morning with burial taking place later in St Fintan’s cemetery Mountrath, chief mourners are Gerry and Paddy as well as nephews and nieces.

Fr Lalor & Lilly leave Hospital

The good news this week is that the PP Fr John Lalor has left hospital and is presently recuperating with his family in Durrow. The people of the parish are grateful to Fr Walter Cooke of Crannagh who has been helping out.

Also making a great recovery is Mrs Lily Sheeran of Main Street Borris-in-Ossory. Lily suffered serious injuries when she was knocked down outside her home in Borris-in-Ossory and has spent two months in the care of the medical staff at Tullamore Hospital.

Last week she was discharged after a marvellous recovery and is spending a few weeks in a nursing home in Portlaoise and she is determined to return home in the next few weeks, her many friends in Camross extend best wishes.
