O’Dempseys Juvenile GAA

O’Dempseys Juvenile GAA Club held their AGM on Thursday January 16 at 8pm. The outgoing chairman Jude McCormack opened the meeting by welcoming everyone especially the new people that attended. The secretary read out the minutes of last year’s AGM, also the secretary’s report which outlined the activities of the club during 2013. The chairman and secretary congratulated the u16 team on winning the league final. The treasurer’s report was delivered by outgoing treasurer Diarmaid Fitzpatrick. The chairman and secretary thanked Diarmaid for all his help during the year and wished him luck in his new role as treasurer for the senior club. Each of the mentors gave a detailed account of their teams activities and achievements during 2013 and congratulated all the players on their dedication commitment and behaviour.

The election of officers then took place: chairman Niall McCormack, vice chairman Tommy Fallon, secretary Catherine Cahill, treasurer Michelle Fitzpatrick, PRO Catherine Cahill, child welfare officer Michelle Fitzpatrick. Committee members were then elected.

A discussion then took place regarding the number of players who stop playing Gaelic football between the ages of 14 to 18 and how this needs to be addressed. The general opinion was that there needs to be more parent involvement and it is something the club will be addressing over the coming months. Chairman of the senior club Enda Behan congratulated the juvenile club on all their achievements and said the future of the club looks bright, he wished them luck in 2014 and is looking forward to working closely with them in implementing the five year plan.

Incoming chairman Niall McCormack addressed the meeting by thanking Jude McCormack and that he was looking forward to the working with Michelle and Catherine and to the challenge that lies ahead. The meeting concluded with a minute’s silence for all the deceased members.
