Heywood Community School has made it to the final of the Mental Health Ireland public speaking competitionfinal which takes place this Saturday April 5 in Trinity College, Dublin.
It was a very tough battle between Heywood Community School, Colaiste Pobalscoil Setanta and Kilkenny CBS at the semi-final.
Heywood’s topic was ‘Hope has the audacity to reach a hand into the darkness and come out with a handful of light’.
The speeches showed excellent content and flawless delivery, showing not only excellent research skills but mesmerising charisma in public speaking.
The Heywood team consisted of Aaron Phelan, Emily Walsh, Jack O’Hara and Ella Barrett.
The team were trained by teachers Collette O’Donnell and Sinead Clifford.
