Mountmellick Soccer Club is holding a Hallowe’en fancy dress disco on Friday October 31 from 7pm to 9pm in Conor Davis Park for children up to and including 14 years of age. Admission €5 includes minerals and snacks. All support appreciated.


Mountmellick & District Game Preservation Association and Gun Club are holding their competition on Saturday November 1 in Dowling’s Pub, O’Moore St at 9pm for the longest and heaviest bird. The Club thanks all landowners for the use of their lands throughout the last 50 years as the Club was formed in 1963. They also thank all their sponsors and members. Members are asked to respect landowner’s property and livestock while out hunting. All members are insured with NARGC. The committee wishes all members a safe and good hunting season.


The next group meeting is on Wednesday November 5 in the MDA at 10.30 am with a guest speaker. The annual Christmas dinner and party is being held in O’Loughlin’s Hotel on Sunday December 14 with time and other details available at the meeting on November 5.

Men’s Shed is now up and running at the house beside St Paul’s Church. This is open to all men regardless of age, background or ability. A public meeting will take place in the Town Hall on Wednesday October 29 at 8pm, to form a committee to plan and organise the 100th anniversary commemoration of the Easter Rebellion 1916 in Mountmellick town and district in 2016. The meeting is open to anyone who has an interest in the event and wishes to become involved.


The Ciorcal will return on Thursday November 6 in the Library from 10am to 11am. All welcome to this opportunity to use whatever Irish you have. Ask in the Library for details of a Kiddie Comhrá which is hoped will also start after the mid-term break.
