LATE SYLVESTER LEWIS PHELAN
The death occurred in the loving care of the staff at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise, of Sylvester Lewis Phelan, (Cork Road, Stradbally, Co. Laois and formerly Glenbower, Mountrath). In his 91st year, he is predeceased by his brother Denis and sister Josephine; sadly missed by his sisters Aileen Stapleton (Dublin) and Freda Winters (Cork), sister-in-law Anne, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Rest in peace. Funeral Mass took place last Friday morning at 11 o’c. at Church of the Sacred Heart, Stradbally and burial took place immediately afterwards to Oakvale Cemetery.

Stradbally Parish Gaels are holding a Social Night in the Napper Tandy, Stradbally on Saturday, Sepember 8 commencing at 9pm sharp. Food and music on the night. Admission is 5 euros and your support would be much appreciated.

MEALS ON WHEELS FUNDRAISER
Tickets are now on sale for the annual raffle which will take place in St. Joseph’s Hall, Stradbally on Saturday, August 25 commencing at 7pm. €700 in prizes. Your continued support would be much appreciated.

IRISH HISTORY LIVE: TITANIC
Michael Moylan returns with his hugely popular interactive history show for kids. This year, experience a unique historical re-enactment of life on the board the Titanic. Booking is required. This takes place in Stradbally Library and Arthouse on Thursday, August 23 commencing at 4pm.
A benefit night in aid of the Make A Wish Foundation will be held in the Napper Tandy back lounge, Stradbally on Saturday, August 25 commencing at 7pm to close.
Live music featuring the Abbey Folk, Shawn Mullins, Chris Conroy, DJ Sean Savage. Spot prizes and finger food and admission is only €5.

The lucky winners of tickets can collect their tickets on Friday, August 17 between 7.30pm and 9 pm and on Saturday, August 18 from 10.30am until 12 noon. Tickets are priced at €30 euros each - €60 euros to be paid on collection for two. This includes the €10 (per ticket) donation for charity - no payment on entry to the Electric Picnic this year.
