Bingo is held every Tuesday Night at 8.30 in the Community Centre. Your support is greatly appreciated. Bingo is run by the Community Centre Group.


To mark 10 years, the group will hold a coffee morning on Friday February 28 from 10-12 in the Marion Centre. The coffee morning is in aid of Crumlin Hospital and the Laura Lynn House. All welcome. We would love to see past members for a coffee and a chat.


Social Services will hold their AGM on Thursday March 6 at 8pm. We are looking for drivers for meals on wheels. If you have a few hours to spare in the year please phone Gina on 087 2454722. Thank you to all our drivers who do wonderful work.


There will be a progressive 25 held on March 7 in Allen’s of Errill in aid of the CYMS club. Spot prizes and light refreshments on the night. We appreciate your support.

The Snooker & Billiards Club has been doing very well lately with numerous new members. We would like to thank all the parents for their valued support. The hall is open from 7.30-11pm. New members welcome. We would also like to see old members.


The club will host its annual auction on Sunday March 2 at 1.30pm in Galmoy Hall. Items include timber, turf, hay, silage, farm equipment, home produce, household goods, numerous vouchers and more.


A bootcamp is starting Tuesday March 11 and Thursday March 13 at 7-8pm. Pilates starting Tuesday March 11 at 8.15pm. Eight week courses. All fitness levels welcome. Places limited so contact Brid on 086 3850977.


The Donaghmore Workhouse and Agricultural Museum is open Monday to Friday 11am to 5pm. Come and see for yourself what life was like in a real workhouse. Group tours are also very welcome here. Hurling & Camógie

Rathdowney/Errill GAA and St Brigids Camogie club will host Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday March 1, in Templemore Arms. Doors open at 7.30pm. Tickets €20 each. Alot of hard work has gone into organising this event from both committees and dancers, so support would be very much appreciated. There will be a raffle on the night. Tickets for raffle €5 each, which includes your programme. So come along!


The Aware Support Group for people experiencing depression, anxiety, stress and other mood related conditions meets every Tuesday at 7.30pm in St Peter and Pauls Parish Centre, Portlaoise. There was no winner in this week’s Jackpot which was €12,400. The numbers drawn were 9, 13, 18, 28. There will be an amount of sapling trees for community groups throughout the county. The collection point for the saplings will be the Machinery Yard, Clonkeen, Mountrath Road, Portlaoise on Friday March 7 from 10am until lunchtime. Fianna Fail

The Fianna Fáil party will officially launch the 2014 local election campaign for the Borris-in-Ossory/Mountmellick area on Friday March 7 in the Castle Arms Hotel, Durrow starting at 9pm. All friends and supporters are invited to attend. Five candidates have been selected to contest the elections which will be held on May 23. They are Michael G Phelan, Sheamus McDonald. Ger Phelan, Joe Digan and Paddy Bracken.
