St. Clare’s Hospitality Founded was founded to help struggling families in the Carlow/Laois area; to give a human and Christian response to “Feed the Hungry”; to distribute food parcels, 10 basic food items valued at €10 every Wednesday, (at present 130 being given out; Free lunches in St Fiacc’s Hall each Thursday 12.00 noon to 3pm. Envelopes will be delivered to households during the coming week. If you would like to help in this important work/mission by making a €5 donation, please place your donation in this envelope and drop it to any of the following places between Friday 09 and Friday 16 May. The Ninth Solemn Novena has begun on Monday nights beginning last Monday 05 May and will run for nine consecutive nights. We invite people during Lent to place their petitions in the petition boxes in St Clare’s. The Theme for this year’s Novena is “Our Faith – Our Story” and each night of the Novena a guest speakers will speak on this theme. Below is a list of the full programme of our guest speakers for the Novena.

The second Novena night is on Monday 12 May, Maria Kidney, Friends of Londiani Kenya will speak.

Killeshin Community Development is going to erect outside free library boxes in the Killeshin area initially with more area’s being considered. These will work on an honesty policy of borrowing a book. They require adult and children fiction and non-fiction books in good condition. Any donations of books can be left into the Den, Killeshin.


The children from St Fiacc’s NS will receive their First Holy Communion next Saturday 10 May at two Special Masses in St Clare’s at 10.30am and 12.30pm. We ask God’s blessings on the children and their families and we thank their teachers and all who have helped them reach this stage of their faith journey. Please note there will be no 10am Mass in St Clare’s next Saturday.


We are now seeking Adult and Teen volunteers who will work with a group of up to 30 teenagers in our Community Centre one evening each week. Upcoming Child Protection course will be held in Portlaoise Youth Cafe on 26 May from 6.30pm to 9.30pm. Volunteer leaders require Garda Vetting and Child Protection Training. Carlow Special Olympics Club is continuously looking for volunteers. Do you have an hour or two to spare, once a week or once a month or even just occasionally, then they would love to hear from you. The 36 Annual Cork to Carlow Cycle in aid of County Carlow Wheelchair Association will take place on the 14 and 15 June with further details later. All monies raised stays in Carlow and County to support local services.
