Borris-in-Ossory ICA guild will hold a Christmas Fair/ Bring and Buy sale in St Canice’s Hall on Saturday evening December 6 after the evening Mass. There will be cakes and home baking on offer, hand knitted articles and crafts, books, bric-a-brac, hand made Christmas cards and Christmas decorations. Please come along and support.
The December meeting of Borris-in-Ossory ICA guild will take place on this Wednesday night at 8pm. This will be the Christmas party and members can bring along a friend. Please also bring a spotprize. The competition is the best three mince pies.
Borris-in-Ossory Development Association will hold a Church Gate Collection at St Canice’s Church next week-end on Saturday and Sunday November 29 and 30. The proceeds will be used to buy new equipment and to help defray the cost of grasscutting etc. Please support and help the Development Association to continue their good work improving and cleaning up the village.
There will be a general sweep-up and clean-up in Borris-in-Ossory at 11 o’clock on next Saturday. We ask all concerned to lend a hand.
Borris-in-Ossory GAA Club will hold a Scrap Saturday fundraiser at O’Keeffe Park on Saturday December 6. Householders are requested to bring along their unwanted scrap metal items such as scrap cars, washing machines, gas cookers, radiators, old farm machinery, old gates, lead acid batteries, copper, brass, stainless steel, aluminium, electric cables, etc. Heavy items will be collected, please contact Cathal 087 6420936, Paul 087 2597398 or Tony 087 2020040.
Over the past few weeks the defibrillator box in Borris-in-Ossory has been moved to the church steeple at St. Canice’s church. Anyone who is trained and would like the code please contact Rhoda on 0851915613. Following this expense the group plans to do a collection at the Post Office, Tony’s shop and Esso filling station on Friday December 5 all day. In the near future it is hoped to provide new defibrillators for the outlying areas like Knockaroo and Killasmeestia. Please generously support this worthy cause on the day.
GIRL BAND FOR BORRIS
It is hoped to start an ALL Girl Teenage Band in Borris-in-Ossory Parish in the near future. With this in mind, we are looking for volunteers, those who have very little experience but, must have a keen interest in learning an instrument and singing. We are looking for two from Borris-in-Ossory. two from Killasmeestia and two from Knockaroo. It is are hoped to run a Function in Rackett Hall, Roscrea next year where this Group will perform.
