Locals in Emo took part in a rural community safety and emergency response training course in the Old School House, Emo, recently. The ten hour course was held every Thursday evening over 5 weeks. Laois Partnership sponsored the course by Greg Duggan. Cllr Tom Mulhall, who took part said it was ‘extremely useful and interesting’ and he urged more people to do courses like that in the future. ‘It is really important to know what to do in a situation where someone becomes sick or if there is an accident. What you learn on a course like this may end up saving someone’s life,’ Cllr Mulhall said. ‘On behalf of the participants I would like to thank Laois Partnership, our instructor Greg Duggan, Tony Byrne the Caretaker of the Old School House and Stephanie Lewis the photographer.’ The people who received their first aid certs were: Ger Delaney, Louise Allen, Avril Allen, Marion Mathews, Mary Miller, John Lowry, Peter Corcoran, George Sherlock, James Sherlock, Paul Yo.
Emo GAA - Moving In The Right Direction - Forum for the Future takes place on Thursday, December 4 from 7pm in the Community Centre in Emo. Guest speakers include: John Lonergan, Author & Public Speaker former Prison Governor, Dara O’Shea, Kerry footballer All Ireland Medal Winner & GAA All Star, and Pat Ryan - International Boxing Coach and Emo GAA Trainer. The Forum is open to all members of the Emo Community 16 years+. Admission is free.
Commiserations to our junior footballers who went out of the Leinster championship at the semi final stage last Sunday week when beaten 2-13 to 0-8 by a very good Straffan team.
It’s been a wonderful year for the club and after a couple of months break, all the lads will be looking forward to intermediate football in 2015 with renewed enthusiasm.
