The first meeting of the season was held on Thursday September 5, presided over by guild president Mary Keenan.
Votes of sympathy were passed with the following; Kelly family Knocknina, Doyle family Shannon Rd Mountrath, Kavanagh family Donore, Clooney family Ballytasna, Burke family Clonin, Flanagan family Mountrath.
Congratulations to Theresa Cuddy on obtainaing 1st prize in Rathdowney Show. Also congratulations to our own guild members on obtaining 2nd prize.
Dancing for fun will take place in Parish Centre on October 3 from 10 to 3pm.
Knitting/craft nights will be held in the hall on Tuesday nights from 7.30 --9.30pm under the guidance of Margaret Ryan, who also had a great display of knitted dolls, caps etc and crafts at our meeting. Competition winners Francis Phelan, Ann Phelan, Ann Tiernan.
Competition for October is Funniest photo post card size. Mary O’Shea was the raffle winner. Lastly thank you to Ann Fitzpatrick for lovely supper.
Ladies don’t forget to visit the ICA marquee at the National Ploughing Championships, stall number 509. Liz Wall National president will be there. There is a fun packed three days of crafts, cookery demos, gardening. cake decoration, basket making to mention but lots more to be seen.
Noaomh Éamann Juvenile Club will host their annual U10 Bill Delaney Tournament this Saturday September 28 in Castletown Pitch. The Clothing Re-Cycling drive will now take place Saturday October 19.
Please donate all your clean unwanted clothes, books and shoes which can be dropped off at the Castletown GAA Grounds between 9am and 11am Saturday. If you cannot make it to the collection point on the day, please contact any committee member during the week to make arrangements for collection of your items we will be only too happy to help.
