Late Valerie Cooper

The death occurred on Monday last April 14th of Valerie Cooper nee Hughes of Coolrain Camross wife of Sloane. Mrs Cooper had been ill for some time and having reposed at her residence on Tuesday her remains were removed to St Judes Church Annatrim for Service and burial took place in the adjoining cemetery.

Chief mourners are her husband Sloane, daughters Gillian, son’s Jeffery and Leslie, grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, relative’s neighbours and friends.

Parish Social on Saturday week

Popular Carlow singer and entertainer Adrian Ryan will provide the music for the May Parish social in Camross Hall on Saturday week May 3rd dancing is from nine thirty to twelve thirty and admission including supper costs seven Euros.


Camross senior hurlers suffered their first defeat in this year’s league when they were well beaten by Rathdowney-Errill at the latter venue on Saturday week and on Easter Saturday they were scheduled to play Mountrath in the quarter final of the Palmer cup. The next outing in Division one of the league is at home to Portlaoise in early June. On Tuesday evening the footballers lost their opening round of the league at home to Clough-Ballacolla. At the weekend the juniors played Ballinakill and on Sunday morning the junior A team welcomed Park-Ratheneiska to Derrynaseera for their opening game results on Laois website. On this Thursday evening the junior hurlers take on Castletown-Sl-Bloom at the latter venue and on Saturday evening the junior B hurlers travel to Abbeyleix for the first league game and on Tuesday next the junior A team take on the Harps at the latter venue.
