A DVD of Borris-In-Ossory Parish was officially launched by Rev. Fr. Jackie Robinson P.P. on Thursday June 19 last at a function in Racket Hall Hotel Roscrea. This DVD was compiled and recorded over the last 2 years by Noel Sheridan and Terence Smeaton and contains footage of all sections, happenings and clubs of the local Community. clean-up thanks

The residents of Church View would like to thank all those who helped with recent clean-up in the area and acknowledge the support given by people in the village, from outside the immediate area. Thanks was expressed to Bill Dempsey of roads section of Laois County Council who supplied the paint for the bollards and chains. Gratitude was also expressed to Delaney’s Garage and Midland Tyres who provided garage which were used to plant flowers in. Anyone who gave donations towards the work was also thanked. Any donations of additional flowers would also be welcome.


Borris-in-Ossory ICA Guild are organising a weekend away at the end of August. The venue this year is Devon and Cornwell in Southern England and the trip will take place from Friday August 29 to Tuesday September 2. Staying at the New Continental Hotel, Plymouth, the trip will include sight-seeing trips through typical Cornish villages, Dartmouth National Park, Greenways (the home of Agatha Christie), St. Ives, Land’s End and Penzance. There is also a trip on a steam train to Kingswear, a one hour cruise and an option of visiting the Eden project which is a top eco visitor attraction in Cornwall. The cost, which includes the luxury coach, ferry crossings, 4 nights Dinner, Bed & Breakfast in the New Continental Hotel and the tour guide for the five days is €439. The Ossory Agricultural Show will take place on Sunday July 27 at the Showgrounds, Coolfin Cross, Mountrath Road, Rathdowney. There will be classes in cattle, sheep, horses, poultry, eggs, jam, home baking, arts, crafts, vegetables, produce, flowers and photography, vintage show, and also junior classes.
