Charity concert and dance in aid of East Midland Parkinsons & Laois Alzheimer’s takes place in the Castle Arms Hotel, Durrow on Friday November 21. Music by Rober Mizzell & The Country Kings. Adm €15 Doors open at 9pm. Dancing from 9.30pm-12.30am
The Parish lotto with a new jackpot of one thousand nine hundred euro was not won last week, the small winners were €30 Sarah Gaughan, €25 Vinny Cooney, €20 Louise Stapleton. The lotto of November 24 will be held in Durrow Inn, Durrow with a possible jackpot of €2,200. All tickets must be handed in before 9.30 pm on the night of the draw to be included in that jackpot.
Giant T.V. broadcaster French 24 who command a massive 45 million weekly viewership have shown from Sunday every hour their visit to Bob’s Bar and the Jack Moyney V.C. snug. Is on Sky Channel 513 and is repeated on TV4 after midnight every day. It is a wonderful exposer for Bob’s Bar and Museum and will definitely encourage tourists from Europe to come to this town and witness the hospitality of Bob and Marian. While the clip shown on the programme is short it portrays Bob’ Bar as a unique Museum Pub.
Cullohill/Durrow Flower and Garden Club are holding a Gala Christmas Flower demonstration in the Castle Arms Hotel on November 24, 2014 at 8 pm. Demonstrator is Richard Delmer and all are welcome to attend. Admission is €10 and mulled wine and mince pies will be served.

Hurler of the Year
Congratulations to Colm Dunphy who was awarded Laois Junior B Hurler of the year 2014. This is a marvelous achievement for Colm who had an excellent year with the Junior B and a great reward for the Harps who put a lot of effort and time into all teams.
While traffic has been badly affected by the sewage works with long delays and much difficulty getting into town, to school and to do business, it is hoped that it will be concluded very soon. All business have reported a considerable fall in income, they hope that the delays and traffic difficulties will be short lived and the new sewage scheme will be of great benefit to Durrow.
A Christmas Market in collaboration with Sunday School Portlaoise and Dance Collective, Longford will be held in the Castle Arms Hotel, Durrow on Saturday December 06 from 12 noon to 5 pm. There will be loads of homemade produce, Hand crafted gifts ideal for Christmas presents. Admission is €1 and every second ticket sold will be donated to charity. At 7 pm there will be a dance and fun until late and all are welcome - admission is €10 by ticket or €15 on the night.
