Irish dancing classes for all ages will commence in The Green Schoool, Rosenallis on Thursday, September 12, at 6pm. Enquiries to Theresa Dunne, TCRG, 087 2390947.


At the recent International Conference held in Feakle,Co Clare, on the therapeutic benefits of Irish Set Dancing to persons suffering from Parkinson’s Disease, attendees were addressed by Professor Volpe, director of Neurological Rehabilitation at Arcangelo Hospital in Venice and by Professor Timothy Lynch,Consultant Neurologist and Clinical Director of Dublin Neurological Institute at the Mater University Hospital, Dublin. Patients demonstrated their skills which they had acquired over a three year period and proved that their equilibrium,movement,mood and confidence had greatly improved. I am delighted to be invited to introduce Set Dancing to Parkinson’s sufferers and their families at their National Social Weekend in Hudson Bay Hotel Athlone on Sat Sept 7th. Rosenallis AFC

The Veterans march on having won there league our over 35’s will compete in the cup final this Saturday. Well done all. Training for our under age team’s will commence in the next week. Turbine meetings

MEP , Mairead McGuinness, met with representatives of the Slieve Bloom Wind Turbine Awareness Group (SWAG) and Laois Wind Energy Awareness Group (LWEAG) at the Gandon Inn on Wednesday evening 14/08/2013. Ms McGuinness took the time to listen to the concerns being raised about the plans to erect Thousands of Industrial turbines across the Midlands and more specifically in Rosenallis and Vicarstown. Among those to meet the MEP were: Paula Poole, Charles Gordon, Ray Redmond, Ann Reed. Both groups also had represenatives in attendance at the awareness meeting in Athlone recently organised by Marian Harkin Independent MEP for Ireland’s North West Constituency. Special guest speaker was Scottish Conservative Euro MP Struan Stevenson, who’s book SO MUCH WIND is available with great insight

to the myth of green energy. The meeting was attended by over 200 concerned people.

Charlie Flanagan also had a private meeting with representatives from SWAG at his offices in Mountmellick in August. The meeting lasted almost one hour with Gerry Gorman, Swag’s chairman giving an excellent presentation to Dep Flanagan,

Slieve Bloom Association trip
