The county cross country relays and the intermediate championships will take place in Ballyroan on November 24, while the senior championships are on in Portlaoise on January 5.

The monthly meeting was held recently in Newtown School. The raffle was won by Maggie Dowd. Competition winners were Mary Jo O’Neill and Rita Brennan. Guest for the evening was Sheila Murray who gave a very informative cooking demonstration.
Line dancing is held in Newtown School on Mondays from 7.30 to 8.30pm.

MR MILEY BEHAN
The death took place suddenly of Mr Miley Behan, Tolerton, Miley and his late wife, Molly and family came from England to reside and run a very successful pub in Tolerton over 40 years ago. His remains were removed from his home to St Mary’s Church, Mayo, Crettyard. Burial took place in adjoining cemetery after requiem mass. Sympathy is extended to his son, John, daughters, Mary, Helen and Angela, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, grandchildren,great grandchild, other relatives and a large circle of friends.
