The Bank of Ireland sponsored Winter League in Durrow Bridge Club proved to be a “Bridge” too far for all the club except Jimmy Ryan who won the league with an impressive score. Jimmy proved to be the most consistent Bridge player in the club for season 2013/2014.

Other prize winner were, 2nd Dolly Harding, 3rd Marjorie McGeough, 4th Paddy Purcell, 5th Rose Talbot, 6th Dolores Campion, 7th Barbara Sheppard, 8th Phil Kingston 9th Josie Murphy, and 10th Bridget Nolan.

The Parish lotto jackpot is now heading for €14,150 and it would be lovely jackpot to win. On March 18 the jackpot was €14,000 and it was not won, small winners were €30 Eamonn Fitzpatrick, €25 Mgt Prior, and €20 Margaret Cuddy.

The lotto of Monday night March 31 will be in O’Connell’s, Cullohill with a possible jackpot of €14,300. All tickets must be handed in before 9.30pm on the night of the draw to be included in that jackpot


Durrow/Cullohill Parish Anglers are looking forward to a new season of fishing with trout fishing competitions on St Patrick’s Day for Mick Walsh Cup and on Sunday March 26 for the Billy Lawlor Memorial Cup. Winners for the St. Patrick’s Day competition for the Mick Walsh Cup were; Senior Seamus Coffey, 2nd Declan McDonald, 3rd Fred Townsend Senior, u-18 Daniel Brophy, u-14 1st Lee Coffey, 2nd Keelan Carroll, 3rd J. McGree. The next trout fishing competition is for the Billy Lawlor Memorial Cup and it’s on Sunday March 30.

Entries will be taken at Lawlor’s Flower Shop, Mill Road from 9.30 am. Membership for season 2014 is now due and can be got in Lawlor’s Gala, The Square, Lawlor’s Flower Shop, Daybreak Store, The Square and Michael Walsh, Club secretary. The Club wishes Pat Dunphy and Tommy Coffey the best of good luck when they compete in the All-Ireland Pike fishing competition to be held in early April.


We extend an invitation to anyone who likes to sing (male and female) to come and join the choir. It’s very enjoyable and rewarding to sing in a choir and be part of the Church celebrations, i.e., Advent, Easter, Christmas and other services throughout the year. Durrow Development Forum are holding a fundraising event for the Irish Cancer Society’s Daffodil Day. It will be held on Saturday March 29 after 7pm Mass and also Sunday March 30 after 11am Mass in the Presentation Centre, Durrow.

Durrow Fado Writers Group

Durrow Fado Writers Group which has formed recently is currently writing a play based on a true local love story. They meet on a weekly basis and their ambition is to have the play performed outdoors later in the year. It is a very exciting and daunting project and if anyone who would like to help or get involved in any capacity, it would be greatly appreciated.
