The annual Novena for the Faithful Departed is taking place in the parish at the moment. Mass of the Angels will be offered in St Canice’s Church on Tuesday November 6 especially for all young people and babies who have died in the parish and surrounding parishes. On Wednesday November 7 there will be a Reconciliation Mass with Confessions. On Monday November 12 there will be a Novena Mass in Killasmeestia and on Tuesday November 13 there will be a Novena Mass in Knockaroo. There will be no morning Mass in Borris in Ossory during the Novena except on Saturday morning at 10am.


The results of last week’s Progressive 25 Drive in the O’Brien Hall were as follows 1st Tom Quigley and Tim Tierney, Johnny Butler & Seamus O’Grady, 2nd - Tom Ryan & Kieran Fitzpatrick, 10th game – Michael Higgins & Peter Delaney, 15th game - Paddy Dunphy & Larry O’Mahony, 20th game – John & Catherine Dalton, Raffle winners were - Michael Fitzpatrick & Tom Quigley. The Progressive 25 Drive continues next Thursday night in the O’Brien Hall at 9pm.


The O’Brien Hall has now re-opened for the winter months and members can come in to play billiards and snooker every night between 7.30pm and 11pm except Sundays.VOTING

Voting in the Children’s Referendum will take place in St Canice’s Hall, Borris in Ossory and Killasmeestia Community Centre on this Saturday November 10. The polling stations will be open from 9am until 10pm.COUNTRY MARKETS

There will be no Country Market in Borris in Ossory on Saturday November 10 as voting in the Children’s Referendum voting. The Market resumes on Saturday November 17 .


Sympathy is extended to Mrs Mary Sinnott, Ballymeelish, Ballybrophy on the death of her mother, the late Mrs Maura Loughlin, nee White, Moore Street, Rathdowney. Her death took place at the Regional Hospital, Portlaoise on Sunday October 28. Her remains reposed at her residence until removal on Wednesday morning to the Church of the Holy Trinity, Rathdowney for Funeral Mass, followed by Burial in Bealady Cemetery. The late Maura was predeceased by her husband Jack some years ago. She is deeply regretted by her daughters Eleanor, Mary, Annette and Breda, sons Kieran, Noel, Brendan and John, daughter-in-law, sons-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.


Borris in Ossory Development Association held a very successful collection through bag packing at Dunne’s Stores, Roscrea. Thanks to Rhoda Brogan and all her volunteers who helped out. The money collected will be put to good use .


Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place each Tuesday in St Canice’s Church, Borris in Ossory from 10am to 3pm. Adoration takes place in Killasmeestia Church on Thursdays from 9.30am to 3pm and in Knockaroo Church on Tuesdays between 2pm and 4pm.

The Borris in Ossory Women’s Walking Group did the 2012 Mini Marathon in aid of two wards in Beaumont Hospital. They are holding their presentation to the hospital in Kelly’s Bar at 9.30pm on Sat November 10. Mmusic on the night. All are welcome. Congratultions

October is the start of the gardening year and the October gardening get together was a busy one. The group learned to take rose and hardwood cuttings, also how to prune raspberries. As the group is getting bigger it was agreed to elect a committee to help run the get-togethers. The committee is as follows Chairman Jim Fahy, Secretary Suzette Galbraith, Joint Treasurers Margaret Ryan and and Judith Hogan, PRO Frank Sheeran. This month’s meeting will be busy with demonstrations on Christmas swags and wreaths. The special feature will be a guest speaker Mr Tanguy Toulgoet who will speak on the kitchen garden. A cover charge will apply on the night. This meeting will take place on Thursday November 15 at 8pm sharp. Please note new time for the Winter. Everyone is more than welcome on the night.

Sympathy is extended to Mr Kevin Horgan, Principal of St Joseph’s National School, Borris in Ossory on the death of his father, the late Mr Timmie Horgan, Carriganarra, Ballincollig, Cork and late of Coolavokig, Lower Macroom. His death took place on Sunday October 21 and his remains were removed to the Church of St. Mary and St. John, Ballincollig on Monday evening. Following Requiem Mass on Tuesday October 22, burial took place in St. Colman’s Cemetery, Macroom.


This year’s Coursing fixture at Ballymeelish, Green Roads will be a three day event and will take place in conjunction with Thurles Coursing Club on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday November 20, 21 and 22. Hare catching continues each Sunday, meeting at Kirwan’s, Esso at 10am.
