Sharon Fitzpatrick from Laois Macra, winner of the 2022 Leinster Volunteer of the Year award
A Laois Macra member got a big surprise this week when she won a Leinster award that she hadn't even know she had entered.
Sharon Fitzpatrick, a member of Mountmellick Macra, has won the Macra Leinster Volunteer Award 2022 award.
Her club had sneakily put her up for the award, in recognition of her amazing record of volunteer work for her club.
"Massive congratulations to our very own club member Sharon Fitzpatrick for winning the Macra Leinster Volunteer Award 2022
"Unknowns to her, Sharon was nominated for this competition which was hotly contested among Macra clubs in Leinster.
"Joining the club in 2005, Sharon has served many officership positions including Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, Panto Chairperson and is the clubs current President. A permanent fixture in the hall, Sharon is always on hand to help out and volunteer for Macra events or to represent the club within the community.
"This award is a testament to Sharon’s hard work and dedication to Mountmellick Macra and we are very proud that her work was recognised nationally within the organisation," the Mountmellick Macra club said.
