Mass times

From Sunday the March 16, Mass in Kilanure will be at 9am and in Camross at 10.30am. Mass will remain at these times for the foreseeable future. There is no change to the time of Saturday night Mass in Camross 8pm. There will be Stations of the Cross at 7.30pm for each of the 7 Mondays of Lent.


Well done to Molly Donnery who won the All Ireland Scór Talent Competition with her beautiful voice on Saturday March 1 in Castlebar, Co Mayo.

On hand to make the presentation was GAA President Liam O’Neill, a huge supporter of Scór over many years, and he was thrilled to present the award to his neighbour Molly. No doubt the celebrations will continue and the good wishes have been pouring in, but for now it is back to the school books for Molly.

Late Tom Delaney

The death took place after a short illness on Friday February 28 of Tom Delaney formerly of Killenure and Raheen Phelan and Ballymeelish. Tom had been ill for a short while but his sudden death caused widespread sadness. Tom farmed all his life and was bereaved by the death of his son Noel and his wife Judy as well as his family in Drimmo Camross. Tom reposed at the residence of his daughter Sheila where Rosary was recited and on Sunday the remains were taken to Killesmestia Church. On Monday morning Requiem Mass was celebrated for his soul and burial took place afterwards to the adjoining cemetery. Chief mourners are his daughters Sadie, Sheila, Margaret, Ena and sons Kieran and Mike, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, partners, grandchildren, sister Sheila Fitzpatrick and brother-in-law Peter. nieces, nephews and neighbours in Ballymeelish and Camross. May he rest in peace.

Late Moira Delaney

The death took place on Saturday March 1 of Moira Delaney of Main Street Mountrath. Many Camross people will remember Moira from her time as shop girl in Peter Nolan’s drapery on Main Street Mountrath. Moira worked there for over 40 years and was always most courteous and helpful. Moira spent many months in the care of the staff of Oakdale Nursing home in Portarlington where she passed away on Saturday morning. Having reposed at Burkes funeral home in Mountrath her remains were removed to St Fintan’s Church Mountrath. After Requiem Mass was celebrated her remains were taken to St Fintan’s cemetery for burial. Moira is mourned by her nieces, nephews, cousins, friends & neighbours. May she rest in peace.

Late Peg Monnelly

The death took place on Monday March 3 of Margaret (Peg) Monnelly (Nee Condon) of Barnhill Durrow and formerly the Nire Valley Waterford. Peg will be remembered in Camross and surrounding Parishes when she was the local District Nurse over many years. Peg had been ill for a short time and passed away in the care of the staff of The Midlands Hospital in Portlaoise. She would have celebrated her 87th birthday this week. Having reposed at her residence her remains were removed to the Church of the Holy Trinity Durrow on Thursday morning for Requiem Mass and burial took place in the adjoining cemetery. Chief mourners are her husband Peter, sons Philip, Paul and Tommie, daughters Helen and Sheelagh, sister Mary, daughters-in-law Lynda, Anne Marie, Caitriona, sons-in-law Mark and Sean, grandchildren, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives & friends. May she rest in peace.

Months Mind

The Months Mind Mass for the Late Tony Higgins Mounthall will be celebrated in St Fergals church Camross on Sunday morning next at 10.30am.
