The Parish lotto jackpot is now heading for €15350. On May 12 results: jackpot € 15,050 not won, €30 Nessa McEvoy, €25 Mick Aylward, €20 Pat Barnaville. The lotto of Monday night May 26 will be in Bobs Bar, Durrow with a jackpot of €15,350. All tickets must be handed in before 9.30 pm on the night of the draw.


The annual Pilgrimage from Cullohill will take place on Tuesday July 01 and more details will be given later.

Durrow/Cullohill Parish Anglers

Grantstown Nature Reserve angling Centre and walking trails is now open to the public. The official opening will be later in this month. The minister for Arts, Heritage and the Galocht Mr. Jimmy Deenehan will be in attendance. The angling club would like to wish Michael G Phelan the best of luck in the local elections and thank him for the work he did on the lake.


St Paul’s National School in Portlaoise was the host for the Laois Spelling Bee Final where thirteen super spellers from National Schools all across the county took part on the day.

After some great spelling, Jim Kirby from Scoil Tighearneach Naofa, Cullohill was declared the Laois Champion and will now go on to represent the county in the Leinster Final to be hosted by Ryan Tubridy in June. Best of Luck Jim.

Cliffs of Moher Coastal Walk

The Senior Competition for the Joe Brophy Memorial Cup and the Juvenile (U16) Competition for the Durrow Development Forum Trophy will once again take place this year.

Entry fees are Senior €5 and Juvenile €3. Maximum print size 10”x 8”. Prints can be mounted but not necessarily. Limit of four photographs per entry. All entries to be presented in an envelope with name of entrant, address and telephone number written on envelope. Accepted on  Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 July from 2.30pm to 4.30pm at Durrow Community Centre. Winning prints will be announced and prizes will be awarded at 5pm on Saturday 2nd August.
