The County Carlow Women’s Network are running their Walk for Fun on Saturday May 24 10am sharp, registration from 9.45, from The Leighlinbridge Parish Centre. It’s an 8km looped river and countryside walk from Leighlinbridge to Bagenalstown with options of a lift half way if you feel like it. Free refreshments provided. Next Saturday, 24 May the children from St Fiacc’s NS will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation at 11am in St Clare’s Church. We ask God’s blessings on the young people and their families and we thank their teachers and all who have helped them as they become full members of the Christian community.


The Ninth Solemn Novena has begun on Monday nights and will run for nine consecutive nights. The Theme for this year’s Novena is “Our Faith – Our Story” and each night of the Novena a guest speakers will speak on this theme. The fourth Novena night is on Monday 26 May, Magnus MacFarlane, Founder of Mary’s Meals, will speak.

Kildare and Leighlin Diocesan Pilgrimage to Knock Shrine is on Sunday 01 June led by Bishop Denis Nulty with the Diocesan Choir. Director will be Fr Liam Lawton. Ceremonies in the Basilica begin at 2.30pm. The Bishop wrote “Following the outstanding diocesan response to the recent Chrism Mass, I invite all parishioners across the Diocese to join with me in pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Knock. I trust it will be both a joyful and uplifting experience for all of us who travel, under the guidance and protection of Our Blessed Lady. A fun table-quiz will be held in The Irishman’s on Wednesday night next May 21 at 8.30pm. The quiz is part of a fund raising initiative by UCD student Peter Morris of Maple Court who will be travelling to India in June as part of UCD Volunteers Overseas. While he is there, Peter will be working with and supporting projects for underprivileged children. This is Peter’s second year to participate in this rewarding project.
