The community of Borris-in-Ossory and surrounding areas were shocked and saddened last week by the unexpected death of Paul Finan, Derrin, Borris-in-Ossory, Laois.

Paul, who was in his early thirties and was married only six months ago, died on Sunday February 15 at St. James’s Hospital, Dublin after a very brief illness. Reposed in his home until removal on Wednesday morning Feb ruary 18 to St. Canice’s Church, for Funeral Mass with burial immediately afterwards in the new cemetery. His Funeral Mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Jackie Robinson PP, assisted by Rev Fr. John Egan and Rev. Fr. James Kelly. Fr. Robinson described Paul as a hard working farmer with a very caring nature, devoted to his family. He loved life and loved the craic with his friends. He loved all sport and was a dedicated member of Borris Kilcotton GAA club. His club colleagues formed a guard of honour at his funeral.

The late Paul is deeply regretted by his heartbroken wife Loretta, his beloved father Sean, his brothers John, Damien and Declan, his sisters Jackie, Donna and Orla, extended family and friends.
