Storyteller and Folklore collector Nuala Hayes will host an events in Laois Libraries in May. entitled, “Sharing local stories”, the exchange of local folklore and stories will take place in the following Libraries. Thursday, May 14, Mountrath Library 7pm. Clonenagh Parish Golf Classic at Mountrath Golf Club on Friday May 22. The purpose of this fundraiser is to raise funds for the restoration of the windows in St Peter’s Church Mountrath, which are currently in very poor condition and need to be repaired urgently. The Apostolic Society of Ireland annual sale of work and display of Blessed Vestments in St Fintan’s Community Hall, Mountrath on Sunday May 10 from 12 noon to 3pm. Condolences to the family of the late Patricia Connolly, Killester, Dublin formerly Kilbricken, Mountrath who died on April 27 peacefully. Beloved sister of Phil, Christy, Mary, Kathleen, and Joan, relatives and friends. Removal from St Francis Hospice, Rahney for Mass at St. Anthony’s Church, Clontarf, followed by Cremation at Glasnevin Crematorium. Donations, if desired, to St. Francis Hospice Raheny.
The Mountrath branch of the Laois Heart foundation will hold it’s monthly meeting in the Cosy Café on May 18 at 8pm. All members to attend. New members welcome.
The lotto draw was held in Purcell’s on Monday April 27 and the numbers drawn were 1,17,19,23. No jackpot winner. Next jackpot €6,400 draw in Tom Delaney’s on Monday May 4. The club would like to congratulate Mick Boyhan on receiving the Carmel Lynch award which he received from the President for his outstanding overall contribution to Clubs and societies in Carlow IT. The club congratulates those who took on the Croagh Patrick Challenge to raise funds for the club. Congrats to all who represented the club in the Scor na Paisti.
