Pre-registration for the Pieta House Darkness into Light walk 2015 takes place at Supervalu Mountmellick from 5pm - 8.30pm Thursday May 7. The 5k walk/run fundraiser for the suicide counselling service takes place at 4.15am this Saturday, May 9 from Mountmellick GAA Club in Acragar. dil.pieta.ie
Waterford based artist Shona Shirley MacDonald will exhibit her art works entitled ‘Juniper’ in the library gallery during May. All are welcome along to view.
JOB HUNTING WORKSHOPS
Mountmellick Library hopes to host job hunting workshops, including CV preparation, job applications, interview techniques and mock interviews. BEALTAINE LIBRARY EVENTS
Wednesday May 13 at 11am: ‘Vocalese’ will sing a selection from Carol King to Sting.
Tuesday May 19 at 7pm: Storyteller and folklore collector Nuala Hayes hosts an evening entitled ‘sharing local stories to exchange local folklore and stories’. Booking essential.
Thursday May 21 from 10.30am to 12.30pm: Irish Rural Link will run workshops on ‘How to use a smartphone or tablet’. This workshop will run for 4 consecutive Thursdays, May 21 & 28 and June 4 & 11. Booking essential, call 057 8644572.
The library knitting/crochet group meets each Tuesday from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Bring along your needles and wool and join us for a cuppa and a chat.
Rosary will be recited at 7pm each Sunday in the cemetery for the month of May. The annual cemetery mass will be celebrated on Sunday May 31 at 7pm. All welcome.

Congratulations to Macra members Sadhbh O’Neill and Helen Dempsey. Sadhbh has been chosen to represent Laois in the Blue Jeans Country Queen competition on the June bank holiday weekend in Athboy. Helen has been selected as Laois representative in the Queen of the Land festival in November in Tullamore. The Club wishes them both all the best and hopes to see crowns being brought back to Laois.

There was much regret at the death of John O’Brien of Esker Gate and formerly of Clondalkin on Sunday April 19. Remains reposed at his residence until removal on Thursday morning to the Church of the Immaculate Conception Clondalkin. Requiem Mass was celebrated at 12.30pm with burial afterwards to Esker Cemetery Lucan. The sincere sympathy of the community is extended to John’s wife Jane, sons Philip and Robert, family, relative and friends.

There was much sadness at the death of Tom Foyle of Clonterry on Saturday April 25. Remains reposed at his residence until removal on Sunday evening to St Joseph’s Church.
