The entire locality was shocked and saddened by the untimely death of Sean Bergin, Garron, Ballybrophy on Sunday February 10. His remains reposed at O’Sullivans Funeral Home, Rathdowney until removal on Tuesday evening to the Church of the Assumption Killasmeestia. Following Con-Celebrated Funeral Mass on Wednesday burial took place in the adjoining cemetery with his parents Mary and Patrick Bergin.

He is deeply regretted by his brothers Michael, Denis, Tom, Joe, Pat and Seamus, sisters Mary and Joan, extended family, relatives and friends.

Sean was only in his fifties and the large attendance at his funeral on both days was testament to the high regard in which he was held. He was a hardworking man who loved the outdoors and loved nature. During the summer months Sean would spend all his spare time on Garron Bog saving the turf. He had great interest in sport all his life. He was a talented hurler with the Borris in Ossory Club in his younger days and was an avid fan of Liverpool football club. May he rest in peace.
