On Tuesday evening April 16 a meeting of the community alert was held in St Bernadette’s hall. Present was Padraigh Farreely crime prevention officer, Garda Paul Wilson and Garda Eithne Dunne. The hall was packed with a wonderfully attendance. A new community alert group was formed in Errill, with an excellent committee elected with delegates for each area. This is great news as in recent years it was Rathdowney, Errill and Donaghmore. Rathdowney community alert was formed in 1986 we are now forming a new committee with one of the founding members still active. We will work in harmony with Errill and are prepared to attend each other meetings.

The death occurred on April 9, of Mary Thomkins (nee Mullins) Nenagh and formerly Mooreville, Rathdowney. Deeply regretted by her husband Brian, daughter Shoana, son Aaorn, grandson, brothers, sisters and extended family to whom sympathy is extended. Mary reposed at her home (Nenagh) her remains were removed to Holy Trinity Church Rathdowney and burial took place in the local cemetery. Mary was a true Rathdowney woman she would she would visit regularly, so it was her wish to be laid to rest in the town she loved so well. May she rest in peace.
