There was no winner in this weeks jackpot which was €7,600. The numbers drawn were 9, 18, 20, 25. The 10 winners of €15 were Michael Loughman, Aine Sinnott, Jessica Smeaton, Kevin Delaney, Karen Dowling, Claire Dowling, Betty Delaney, Mgt Delaney, Eddie Blanc, MJACABPM. Next weeks jackpot will be €7,750. Tickets can be purchased from all shops and any local promoters.

The club’s annual race night will take place on Saturday July 13 in Thurles greyhound track. Buster tickets are €10 each which includes admission, draw and race card on the night. Children go free. There will be a free raffle after each race for all children that attend on the night. Prizes include sliotars and hurls signed by your favourite Rathdowney/Errill player. Fitzpatrick bus hire will also be available on the night. First race starts at 7.45pm so come early to study form.

Easy Riders

Easy Riders Charity cycle group are holding a Texas Hold’em night in Corcoran’s bar on Fri July 12. Prizes for first, second and third. Starts at 9pm

The third fundraising draw took place on Friday June 28.

A great Bingo is held every Tuesday Night at 8.30 in the Rathdowney Community Centre. Your support would be greatly appreciated. Bingo is run by the Community Centre Group.


The show will be held on Sunday, July 28 at the Showgrounds on the Mountrath Road, Rathdowney.

Cycling League

Next Thursday night sees the return of the Cahill cycling league to Rathdowney.

Once again there will be road restrictions in the area.

The course will Start from the square to coolfin cross, left to Donaghmore and back to rathdowney.

There will be four laps of this course. We would ask the public to please obay the marshals on the course, and

to be aware that there will be up to 60 cyclist taking part in the race.

Race will start at 7.30 pm sharp. Please come out and support our local cycling club.

the way we played

Rathdowney Playground Group are hosting a Gathering event called ‘The Way We Played’ in the Gort na n-Og playground on Saturday July 27 from 5pm.

All who lived, worked or had relatives in Rathdowney or surrounding areas, are invited along.

A street style picnic, with tables of homemade food, bales of hay as seats, picnic blankets on the ground, music and entertainment is planned, with presentations of how we used to play. Guest speakers will demonstrate games, with a chance for everyone joining in. A great opportunity for people to catch up and reminisce. DJ, children’s games and entertainment, face painting and nail art.
