Rathdowney-Errill GAA held its annual Darren Hickey Memorial Tournament on Saturday, September 5, paying tribute to the young man who passed away in 2009. In 2010, the club decided to honour Darren, who had been the mascot for their senior championship-winning teams in 2006 and 2008, by staging a tournament for juvenile players. The tournament is now a well-established event and one of the highlights of the local GAA calendar. Doon GAA won Saturday’s tournament in Rathdowney.
