IN PICTURES: Laois town raises big sum for crimefighting street CCTV scheme

Crowds attended Mountmellick Neighbourhood Watch sale

The town of Mountmellick in Laois has ensured another year of public CCTV coverage, after raising close to €9,000 in a local bring and buy sale.
Mountmellick Neighbourhood Watch volunteers organised the sale, which has raised €8,831.56 with money still coming in.
It took place at the Catholic Owenass hall on Sunday, September 8 with huge crowds snapping up bargains in donated furniture, clothes, toys and bric a brac. 
"You came from everywhere not just Mountmellick, Rosenallis, Clonaslee, Tipperary, The Swan, Mountrath, Abbeyleix, Portlaoise, Roscommon, Portarlington, Kikenny, Cork etc but we also had interest from England & America too.
