Save Our Sons And Daughters (SOSAD) Laois have recently opened a new drop-in clinic at their Portlaoise residence, and saw a fantastic turnout to the official opening.

The branch is an offspring of SOSAD Ireland, a charity dedicated to supporting mental health with six offices around the country.

The official opening of the drop-in clinic took place on Wednesday September 11, coinciding with World Suicide Prevention Week.

The drop-in centre will allow anyone to call by without a prior appointment, for a cup of tea and a chat with the SOSAD Laois team.

In a post on Facebook, SOSAD Laois warmly thanked locals and supporters for their turnout to the opening.

"Our sincerest gratitude to each and everyone who came along yesterday," the post read.

"Your continued support is truly appreciated.
Fabulous refreshments were enjoyed and truly powerful and inspiring conversations were had on the importance of prevention, community and mental health. The Drop In Centre will allow anyone to call to our door without a prior appointment for a cuppa and a chat. All are welcome!" it finished.
Since 2007, SOSAD has worked to raise awareness and help prevent suicide in Ireland.
"We have worked tirelessly in our communities to help those in need feel supported and know they are not alone on their journey," said SOSAD Ireland.
"SOSAD offer support and services for people who are struggling, or if you simply need to talk. If you want to talk, we are here to listen. You can message us, call us, or call into our office."
