"Scoil Bhríde, Mountrath was founded by the Brigidine Order in 1809, and for many years operated from a building attached to the former convent on Patrick Street," Principal Rohan said.
"In 1984 it moved to its present location at Stillbrook, just across the road from the old school. Sr. Majella O' Driscoll was the last member of the Brigidine Order to be principal of the school, on her retirement in 2002 I was appointed principal.
"On September 29, we will celebrate 40 years of the opening of our school - it promises to be a day of reflection, of sharing stories and a trip down memory lane," Ms Rohan said.
"All in our school community are invited to celebrate with us as Scoil Bhríde has been a cornerstone of our community, shaping the minds and hearts of countless individuals. It has been a place where knowledge has been imparted, friendships have blossomed and dreams have taken flight.
"The dedication of our teachers, the enthusiasm and curiosity of our students, and the unwavering support of our families have all contributed to the vibrant tapestry that is our school," she said.
To mark this momentous occasion, the school have partnered with Shuttermaniac Productions to create a short film for all to view at their celebration on the 29th.
"The children have let their creative juices flow and with the help of Lee Williamson (Shuttermaniac Productions) and Aideen McHugh (Creative Schools), they have produced a masterpiece! We gratefully accept the invitation to showcase our work at the upcoming Samsung Mini Motion Pictures Film festival in Roscommon," Ms Rohan said.
"May I extend a word of thanks to Lucy, Colette and Donal from our community, who shared their experience of school life in times past. The children asked them some very interesting and probing questions during the interviewing process.
"To all who have walked through the gates of Scoil Bhríde, to those who have shaped its legacy and to those who will carry its torch into the future, I extend my heartfelt gratitude and warmest wishes," the principal said.
"May our school motto 'Mol an óige agus tiocfaidh sí' continue to be at the heart of all that we strive to achieve, a school that celebrates the holistic development of each child whose education is entrusted to us. Breithlá sona, Scoil Bhríde, Mountrath!" Principal Rohan finished.
