Over 360 tractors and 70 lorries took part in the run, which was in aid of oncology clinics in St James hospital.

The tractors ran from Ballybrittas Old Town through to Emo Village, before returning to Ballybrittas.

The lorries left Ballybrittas and travelled through Portlaoise, before returning.

“We got on very well, there was a great turn out,” said Fishertown Tractor and Truck Run committee member David O’Connell.

“We are still receiving donations through our GoFundMe page, so we don’t have a total figure yet.”

The committee announced that their decision to raise funds for St James hospital was due to ‘many people locally’ in receipt of supports in the hospital.

“We are delighted to be in a position to be able to raise much needed funds for this worthy cause,” the committee said.

The Fishertown Tractor & Truck Run was established in 2008 by local men aiming to raise funds for a local cancer charity.

Since its foundation, the tractor and truck run has raised over €360,000.

The day saw music from Big Generator, with a live auction and raffle and children's entertainment.
