A beautiful real Christmas tree has been lit up in a Laois town, by a little boy who beat leukaemia and his mam, 2024 Carer of the year.
Cathail Houlihan, 8, and Sarah Dooley lit up Mountmellick on Friday night ahead of the Late Late Toy Show, with a promise by the committee of a permanent reinstatement of a new version of the town's famous tree by Christmas 2026.
