The event was a resounding success, highlighting the hard work, dedication, and academic excellence of the graduates. Portlaoise Institute's staff, students, and their families gathered to recognise and honour the graduates for their outstanding accomplishments in various fields of study.

The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome from Principal Keith McClearn, who acknowledged the support that has been there for the Graduates throughout last year “whether it be your parents, partners, family members, or friends. Their encouragement has played a pivotal role in your success”

He also paid tribute the staff of Portlaoise Institute.

“I know that you agree with me when I say our staff go to enormous lengths to support our students each year and have been instrumental in your academic success. They are the backbone of Portlaoise Institute, providing guidance, knowledge, and a nurturing environment for students to thrive,” the principal said.

Adding to the significance of the event, past student Jeff Phelan, now a dedicated second-level teacher, shared his inspiring journey and invaluable insights gained from studying at Portlaoise Institute.

During his speech he told the audience to continue to pursue their dreams and aspirations with determination and resilience.

Throughout the event, numerous students were recognised for their exceptional achievements.

Student of the Year Awards were presented to students who had demonstrated remarkable academic prowess, and a positive attitude to their studies.

Mr McClearn finished the ceremony with a message to the graduates.

“As you step out into the world, you will encounter a wide array of opportunities and challenges. Each one of you possesses a unique set of talents and aspirations. Remember that your time at Portlaoise Institute has equipped you not only with academic knowledge but also with the ability to adapt, innovate, and persevere”
