Local reports of bushfire on verge of N80 Laois road from Portlaoise to Stradbally

Motorists in Laois are being warned of a roadside “bush fire” that has sparked off, this Tuesday afternoon, July 14.

A social media service for Stradbally town has advised motorists to “avoid N80 Portlaoise way due to bush fire on road side.”

It follows other incidents on the M7 in Laois this afternoon, including the closure of the westbound motorway lanes due to a multiple vehicle collision.

The multi vehicle collision has occurred on the M7 westbound, between J15 Ballybrittas and J16 Portlaoise (East), 3 kilometres east of the Portlaoise area.

Also this afternoon, a vehicle went on fire on the M7/N7 eastbound between J17 (N77) Portlaoise (Centre) and J16 Portlaoise (East) near Portlaoise.

Another vehicle collision took place between J17 (N77) Portlaoise (Centre) and J16 Portlaoise (East) (1 kilometre west of the Portlaoise area).

Laois County Fire and Rescue Service has been asked to confirm the reported Stradbally roadside fire.
