Northern Irish indie rock band :Panic :Over are taking over Kavanagh's in Portlaoise in the weekend before the Electric Picnic circus descends on Laois.
Their gigs on August 23 & 24 are the final dates of their tour in the Republic so fans from their home turf are expected to make a pilgrimage from the North to join the 'Pre-Picnic Party' in the Portlaoise venue.
Both shows are free entry (as the tour is fully funded).
:Panic Over are Dharesh McCarthy, Ben Simms, Reuben Curran and Charlie Gribbons. The quartet formed in the suburban back gardens of Bangor, Co Down, during the pandemic.
Their sound has already captured the attention of producers and organisers of Global Sporting Events; UEFA chose 'Part of Something' for the official song of the u19s Euros 2024 Opening Ceremony, 'Paper Planes' featured on ITV Sport's big closing montage of the Eng vs Ire 6 Nations Rugby clash, and the BBC & ITV picked up 3 tracks from their debut album, in their Euro24 coverage - to audiences of over 20 million.
The band made it to BBC Introducing “Ones to Watch” and the Daily Mirror Top 50 records of the year as well as the Hot Press “Hot for 2025”.
The band will be supported on August 23 by Monroe while they go acoustic on August 24.
