Fire services are battling a blaze which broke out at a swimming pool in Edenderry, Co Offaly this afternoon.
The blaze, which is may have begun in the boiler house, started at around 3pm.
The popular facility posted a notice on its facebook page advising that all lessons were now cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.
Offaly County Council issued an update on the fire this evening.
The council said Offaly Fire and Rescue Services attended at the fire at Edenderry Swimming Pool.
“The pool building was occupied at the time but was evacuated successfully, no injuries,” they stated.
“The fire originated in the plant room and there was smoke damage elsewhere in the building.”
“Two fire units, from Edenderry and Portarlington, responded to the incident. The public are asked to stay away from the area,” the council said.
