The festive season officially got underway in Portlaoise this weekend when Santa came to town to turn on the Christmas lights and be the guest of honour at the annual Christmas Market .
Sunday, November 27 was a great day of fun in Portaoise thanks to the Downtown Portlaoise traders association. The day kicked off at 11am with a Christmas Market which ran all day.
Santa arrives from the North Pole just in time for the Santa Fun Run. He was also on hand to turn on the spectacular Christmas lights.
Denis Byrne was on hand to capture the big switch on for the Leinster Express.
