"I would encourage anybody between the ages of 18 and 27 to fill in the application form, it only takes a couple of minutes and you really won’t regret it.

"I have had the most amazing experience to date, I am heading off to New York on Thursday where I will be marching in the Saint Patrick’s Day parade alongside my fellow roses.

"I am just back from Chernobyl two weeks ago where I had the most amazing, life-changing experience.

The Laois Rose selection night will take place at the Midlands Park Hotel in Portlaoise on Sunday, May 6.

Lyn Moloney is one of the Laois Rose Centre organisers.

“We would like to invite GAA, camogie clubs, societies, groups and businesses to nominate a representative from their respective communities to take part in one of Laois’ annual flagship events,” Ms Moloney said.

Laois Rose Centre organiser, Steve Cronly, has thanked the sponsors and and the Leinster Express which is the print and digital media partner for this year’s event.

“We are delighted to have Laois Shopping Centre as our lead sponsor of the Laois Rose again this year, along with the Midlands Park Hotel where our Laois Rose Selection 2018 will take place on May 6th. We are also grateful to the Leinster Express for their support as media partner,” he said.
