WATCH: Laois Rose hopeful Shauna Foran has big plans after her Leaving Cert

As proud local media sponsor of the Laois Rose of Tralee 2019, the Leinster Express is happy to introduce this year's Laois Rose hopefuls.

Introducing Laois Rose 2019 entrant Shauna Foran from Portlaoise, Co Laois. Watch her introduction video above and read her profile below.

"Hi, my name is Shauna Foran. I’m 18 years old and I’m from Portlaoise. I’m currently studying for my leaving certificate in June. I'm going to study English and Theology in Limerick to do secondary teaching and hopefully travel to third world countries to help those who need education the most.

"I would love to teach in Zambia for a while, as I remember my old 4th class teacher telling us about her experience teaching there. If not I would love to go and study Midwifery in Athlone. As experiencing new life is more than amazing.

"I suffer quite a bit with anxiety, therefore, it has stopped me from doing stuff that I always wanted too. I didn’t even sign myself up for the Rose of Tralee, my boyfriend did. I didn’t know until he told me the next day. I didn’t even expect to get accepted and when I got the call from Lyn, I wasn’t even going to go through with it, but now I’m glad I am. For me, my family and my friends.

"I found my peace in doing activities such as meditation, dance and photography. I also go to the gym quite a lot with my boyfriend, who motivates me every time I go. Photography is something I have recently taken up. I was inspired by Robert Irwin and many other photographers. I enjoy photography as I get to capture many beautiful moments on camera and it will forever stay still.

"I do Zumba in Mountmellick and Portlaoise every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. I do my own meditation at home through different apps, music and techniques.

"I also have a huge interest in philosophy, technology and mythology. Philosophy meaning love of wisdom, therefore I would like to study it more when I go to college hopefully. I love animals, especially dogs.

"I also enjoy watching tv shows and movies, my particular favourite movie series is Harry Potter. I even have the glasses of Harry Potter tattooed on my ankle. Hopefully more tattoos along the way as well as piercings!

"I’m my future I hope to travel more. One place I’d love to visit is New York. It’s always been a place me and my mam has always wanted to visit. Hopefully one day I get to make that dream come through. As well as living somewhere in America. I’m nervous about the future."

The Laois Rose selection night takes place this Friday night, April 19 at Castle Durrow. Pick up a copy of Tuesday's Leinster Express to see a full feature on this year's Rose entrants.
